Drive pressure particle trap?

Has there been any attempts to build a drive pressure particle trap?
I've seen the previous threads about this using various fuel filters but can't help to think something more consistent could be manufactured?
A small high pressure can with some baffles/ screens / filters comes to mind.

Yes, I make BOVs and yes I want one on my new-to-me truck.
Hearing the turbo exhale thru the compressor inlet really does bug me.
And no I don't want to run the BOV electrically.
It will work great for a DP gauge and a wastegate control source.
IMO there's a 100 different uses for DP yet no good clean source that I could find.
 
Well, I whipped up a BUP (butt ugly prototype) today that I'll be testing on my truck. Here's a drawing of what it consists of right now.

Basically its a baffled 2 stage filter, the hope is a lot of the soot and even moisture will get trapped in the bottom. Starting with a 100ish micron screen and a 40 micron bronze filter ans see how long it lasts.

About $3 in consumable parts right now.
 
I'm curious to see how it turns out. It seems like the baffle and screen would be useless with all the pressure going through there? but im not very smart. keep us updated.
 
The baffle just creates an expansion chamber that SHOULD let some of the particles fall to the bottom. This should make the filters last longer between cleaning.
At any rate it will be user self serviceable.
 
I'd be interested. The fuel filter works for a while, longer for me than no filter, but there's always room for improvement.

There shouldn't be much flow though...unless you get a leak.
 
There is no "flow" on a back pressure sensor setup.

There shouldn't be for sure, but somehow I still wound up with gooey gunk at the gauge. I cleaned it out and re-did the connection to make sure it was air tight but it happened again later. I'm not sure how in the hell it travels that far since like you say, there's no flow.
Mine hasn't done it since the filter install though.
 
It's amazing how that stuff will work it's way through 15 ft of hose and clog the gauge.
 
maybe my autometer gauge is mis matched to my HTT manifold. i get soot up the tube as well.

I bet its a volicity thing. theres flow in the manifold and the soot is moving so fast it just shot through. im sure condensation has a roll too
