That's pretty quick advancement Jeff!

Holy crap, its not even possible to make e6 in 6 years in the AF. If everyone fell into place just perfect, from enlistement date to tech school graduation, to testing eligiblity, you might be able to make e6 in 6, but you wouldn't actually put the rank on until your 7th.

DAMN!

Come in with education as an E-3, graduate top of your "A" school class push button 3rd, next year make 2nd first time up, bust your ass and get an EP second eval and make first off the next test.

I did it the hard way, E-1 to a CAP E-5 first tour, 6 years as a second, 6 years as a first, Chief at 16.

What pay grade is a navy chief? Our's in an e9. Most are lucky to hit e7 in 16 years, at least in my career field.

I came in as an e3 with education, made e5 on my first try, and didn't put it on until my 4.5 year mark. I'm not able to test for e6 until my 6.5 year mark, and if I made it, wouldn't put on until 7.5 years LOL I need to cross over!

i think ive seen your truck around the area, looks good. your on NOB right?

nice Job advancing Jeff!!! i get tired of seein folks get in a position and just sit on it not realy putting any real true effort into advancement. If you put in for all the right schools, work hard and act right so your EERs are good and then study your ass off for the tests you can advance as fast as you want to.(well other than the required 6 months between e4 to e5 and the required year between e5 and e6. It took me over 7 years to make e6 but that was my fault for not taking an underway job as a e4...(i needed 1 year sea time to advance to e6.) i just hit my 10 year mark and just competed with everyone for E7... i did very well so i should be E7 by my 11 year mark.

yes i know its different for army and marines to advance what with having to wait on a slot to open up within each unit...that and there is still a little bit of the "good ole boy system" going on in the army advancement system.

Just wish I was still in.... freakin PTS got me :nail:

PTS and ERB both piss me off to no end, very few people booted that needed to go, most of the people kicked out or fired needed to stay......different program, same results in the early 90's
