The April 2015 issue of Diesel Power Magazine just hit newstands and subscriber's mailboxes. Inside on page 66 there is an article introducing the 40 hopeful contenders that made the ballot; it's now up to Diesel Power Magazine readers to select their favorite trucks, list them on the paper ballot, and send-in the original hard copy for the official vote. Each truck has a picture with a small with a list of modifications and claimed horsepower and torque numbers.

To the casual reader, the horsepower and torque claims are impressive and awe-inspiring. As a forum member, you fall into a different level of understanding and are more likely to scrutinize to the claims vs. listed turbo sizes and modifications. I'd like this to be an open forum topic for the discussion of individual trucks from the ballot and whether or not you think the claimed power numbers are plausible or complete BS. To keep things simple, refer to trucks by their ballot number, not just the name of the owner. Keep in mind that many of these truck owners are also members here on Comp D so keep it somewhat civil. Don't be afraid to scrutinize these trucks, after all, each owner filled out the truck stats on their ballot so they should be man enough to own up to whatever claims were made.

Here are the trucks in numerical order, starting with the Dodges:

I think number 6 is going to have a fun time spooling that pig in Colorado.

Pretty easy to call bs on those two trucks

What's wrong with #19's claim of 1600HP on an S366 over S480 turbo setup with a 100HP nitrous shot??? Everyone knows a G56 aluminum case manual transmission is good for a solid 750-800 HP and about 1500 ft-lbs before they completely grenade!!!!

:hehe:

And number 15 has a lot of turbo for 1000hp.

Like to know where #19 got his upgraded shafts for his g56

The more fun game is guessing which trucks are completed at this time :hehe:

Cody truck is built and is his dd, Dallas's truck is a pulling truck here in WI but not sure how well it'll do in other events, he just went to a manual this fall from a built auto.

I can vouche for my junk! LOL and I promise it's made more power than that.

Ya, we know your legit! And all I gotta say is you or todd BETTER be in DPC. We need a damn 12 valve to represent and show people even though they are the "dinsaurs" they are still king. :stab:

Does any manual transmission truck stand a chance in this challenge?

Depending on ones ability i dont see why not. The drag races only account for so much. Though between that and the trailer obstacle course you better know what your doing so you dont look like a fool. Those heavy clutch g56 trucks arnt gonna like being thrown into reverse quickly.

From my limited experience with a dual disk, it didn't like to be shifted quickly at all. This, and not being able to make boost at the line would kill your chances in drag racing, and trailer towing. It would definitely make the obstacle course a bit tougher as well. I just can't see a manual truck having a chance in hell.

Since when are you unable to build boost at the line with a manual truck?

I was able to spool my twin turbo g56 3250dd dodge to 20 psi on the line. One foot on the gas and brake and the other riding the clutch pedal

How do you vote? I want to see little6cylinder's truck in it for sure! Get some older trucks in there to break up the commonrail take over. Even if they don't win it would be neat to see the old V.S. new in the competition.

The only thing that caught my eye on yours is 7x13s! Did you really make the 1200+ with 7x13s? I thought you had to have 5x50s to do such a thing? LOL
