Wonder how bad/hard it would be to swap a 5.9 for a 8.3 in a fl50/60 truck
Or swap our a 3100 cat for a 8.3
Which 3100? 3126, 3176?

Why don't you want to run the 8.3? It's a good engine
I read that as swap the 5.9 "out" for an 8.3 "in". Not sure why in the world anyone would want to go the other direction.

I read it that way too...

Any insight on either?
Lots of difference in those engines, 3176 is 12L. 3116 is 6.6 and 3126 is 7.2. The smaller engines use the heui fuel system I believe.
I'd try to find 07 or newer C7 Acert take out and have it tuned, I believe they are full common rail.
A 3126 can be made to run good, C7's can also. Before I went to the expense of swapping the entire engine I would swap injectors.
I know floating sales adds 3116/3126 are the two most common of the three.. 3116 being the most..
Found a 97 SA fl70 tractor used by 7up.. with 8.3/6sp trans.. figured it would be smart to inframe, rebuild/swap transmission and go through rear end, change gears from a p&d to OTR ratio.
Haven't really convinced my self to take the plunge or rebuild/repower another 90s 3500hd and stay where I'm at
3126b in an fl70. 70 pin. Is there an easy way to blank out customer passwords? I had a group of students set a password on one of our lab trucks. They don't know what it is now...
Sent from my flashscan v2

What's your MD price range? The reason I ask is guys make the mistake of looking at old stuff when the newer trucks are cheaper. There is a 2006 Pete 335 for $26k and a 2011 KW T370 for $23.
Trying to do this without having to finance... Mistake I made when I bought my LMM.. put me back in a big truck for 8 months
I figure I'll have 20-25k wrapped up in either route I go.. whether that's a class 4 truck with a Dmax/Alison repower or a worn out 60/70 with a 8.3 and mechanically rebuild it engine/transmission/brakes/diff(gear change)
Needs to be 99 and older. 90% of work will be done by myself..
Hydraulic brakes would be nice due to they are disc... Maintenance is substantially easier than air drums, you are hard pressed to find air disc in the 90s...
Talked to meritor and Dana/spicer.. the new air disc brakes are not retro fitting... So either junkyard or order brand new axles $$$$
Dana only makes disc brakes in 17" rotors for 20-25k axles and only 22.5 and bigger rims.
meritor make air disc brakes from 13"-17" rotors for 15.5k-31k axles can runs 17.5/19.5/22.5/24.5 rims
Ultimate goal is not to have a mandatory equipment payment to a lender... Not that I won't set money aside is it lessen monthly overhead..
Off to Mayer equipment
Glad you're not bringing that yellow junk here.
