Budget 6.70 drag truck build!!

Doesnt look any lighter in the pics. I can see big steel upper A-arms. Blake, are you just changing the front hubs and wheels?

Yes. Going to a 1500 lower control arm it is a bit lighter. Uppers are the same then hub and spindle off the 1500 is a hair lighter. Won’t loose much weight. But main reasoning is just to be Able to use my billet skinny’s that are 15lbs wheel and tire. Compared to my stock ones I’ve been running that are 75+. The uppers won’t be used. To swap piece by piece it was like 650$ total. I’m getting this truck for 200 still has a blown up Motor and a 47re gasser trans so gonna sell the stuff worth anything and scrap the rest and probably be in it nothing by the time it’s over with.

I understood he is going 5 lug to be able to run a lighter wheel.

Do the 1500 and 2500 2wd share the same A arms? Be nice if all a guy had to do was a knuckle swap.

The uppers are the same lowers are not. Uppers have to switch to the smaller 1500 ball joint to work tho.

And also. You have to use the brakes off the 1500 aswell. As the 2500 ones won’t work with the new hubs and also the 15s will hit them.

Switched from my 475/83/1.10 to a buddy’s 475/96/1.0 both in t4 and the truck loved it. Spooled easier staging did better in the burnout. Honestly was shocked. Ended up finally getting the truck in the 6s. Bumped the nitrous jet up from a .052 to a 071 and it was just about perfect. Slight haze down the track. About reached the max this little Unbenched 180 pump is gonna do.and my best 60 to date it 1.61 if I can get 60 on down another .1 I’ll have a easily competitive 6.70 truck

Ended up picking up that 1500 Saturday. Been busy working on getting everything switched. Someone in the 1500 had put the wrong thread lug nuts on and they wouldn’t budge was twisting the lug nut its self. Ended up having a torch a few of them out just to get the wheels off. But good to go now. Gonna redrill my rotors for 5x4.5 pattern today on lucnh and should have the skinny’s on by tonight. Will post some pics!

And just by feeling. I’m probably gonna loose atleast 50-75lbs with the lighter 1500 stuff. Plus over 100lbs in wheel weight which is supposed to equal a lot more stationary weight so I’ve been told anyway.

Maybe I missed something? The dodge 1500s are 5x5.5 pattern. Or are you switching patterns on the 1500 hubs?

Yes they are. But luckily where I work in a machine shop I was able to redrill the lug pattern on a mill after work yesterday. Now they are 5x4.5. Anyone that chooses to do this you will have to get rid of the antilock brake gear and depending how close to the other lugs you drill them you will need to machine down the little nipples that are on the back of the rotor

Here’s some pics with the truck. After a long day. Got the front ends swapped between the trucks I really need to drop the whole truck about another 3-4 inches but can’t because of the rear wheels. So for now it’s gonna look like a gasser lol.
