High hp 12v cummins longevity

Seems quite counter productive if response is a large concern, the K27 uses an 18cm housing vs the factory HX35 with a 12cm housing. If you are wanting to get away from the HX35 but don't wish to increase the turbine size larger than the HX35 or K27 you may consider an S257, these are available with an HX35 14cm turbine housing. For the primary I don't see the point is using an S300 frame turbo, it would be a simple step up to a small turbine S400 and offer more durability and capability without increasing lag.

Despite the k27 large housing it seems to spool up pretty fast looking at some videos. I seen one guy was making about 20psi of boost by 1600rpm witch seems to be good enough for me.

Pay attention.

I have talked to several people with buyer's remorse after believing what they see on YouTube.

Alright ok. So you recommend the hx35 and sxe369. what about the he351 non vgt. Whould a sxe472 be a better large charger.

If you don't run your hx35 just step up to a S257 or s357. From what I've read the sxe72 compressor isn't suited for diesels. Go with a traditional s471 with an 83/74 1.10 t6. Smokem has an s472 on his website with a compressor wheel designed tested and proven for optimal performance on our engines.

I didn't recommend that at all. If you keep the HX35 or use an HE351 then I would simply use a Borg Warner 177248 for the primary, you might opt for the T6 1.10AR turbine housing. This is often referred to as an S472 however the compressor is 71/101mm, it is a higher pressure design compared to the SX-E 72/96mm compressor. The turbine wheel is only marginally larger 74/83mm when compared to the larger S300 which is 73/80mm, however the blade geometry is quite different between the two.

What small turbo do you recommend. How reliable is the s257 seems like it can't handle much over 25psi for very long at least that is what I heard.

I'm really enjoying HE351/HT60 combo. Mild ported head and 174/203 cam really woke up the top end, without sacrificing low end spool. If I load it up I can make 40psi by around 1600 rpm, with 10ish from the primary. By 2k the primary is lit and rapidly pushes to 30psi and 60psi total. EGTs have only been above 1000 a handful of times so far.

Sounds like a good setup. Would you happen to know the drive pressure

At 3k rpm and 60 lbs boost drive pressure is around 75 lbs. My intercooler leaks a bit as well.

You need to listen less, and hear more. Smokem knows what he's talking about. Half the people on the internet have never made any real power with a 12v, just a lot of smoke.

You are wasting money trying to port a 12v head for 500hp. Spend less money on a cam, and then go the S257/S472 compound route that Smokem recommended. Thank us all later.

I daily drove and towed with that same setup from about 2005-2012 back before all the new turbo technology came out. And by towing, I mean Gross weights up around 50K lbs, not any of this 10K camper crap. My empty trailer weighed around 10,500lbs.

All right I'll give it a try. The 257 does seem like it would have insane response with The little 61mm exhaust. What A/R back housing would work best.

Why do you refer to the S257 turbine which is 61/70mm as little when you were considering a K27 turbine which is 59/70mm? And more so to the point that an HE351 and HX35 turbine would also both be smaller than the S257.

There all little compared to the sxe62 turbo that many people reccomended. What housing would work best t3 divided or undivided a/r in the .70-.80 range or bigger not sure what housing sizes these this turbo comes with.
