For the last couple of times I have washed the engine when I start the engine the alternator won't charge, it started chargeing a couple days after in the past but now it seems to be here to stay.
Check the terminals in the alternator plug. I've seen them spread and lose contact. Ford alts are junk, if the batteries are weak it may have fried the alt, even if only one bat is bad.
