I am looking at a duramax 05 with 103000 miles lifted and in great shape. How reliable are they. Bone stock and how much hp could I make with a tuner, exh, lift pump and turbo. what will the tranny hold.

They are a reliable truck block the egr and you will be good to go. You can make around 500hp with efi live on stock turbo, injectors. You will need a lift pump and trans build.

I too have a 2005. If I were you i would also get a suncoast t-case brace and the merchant auto t-case pump fix kit. I just bought these parts and am getting ready to have them installed. In my opinion these parts are just cheap insurance. Hope this info helps you.
