In full disclosure, I had forgotten about my 01 having fire rings, long story short, head gasket blew with like 10K on the truck. Haisley had some "experimental" fire rings they thought might be better for street use(basically it was a ring with a spring in it). Those lasted about 3K, at that point they said they couldn't do an Oring, and went with fire rings. When I sold the truck at 52K, I had no issue with the fire rings, but I was always waiting to see if one would crack on me. I think the big concern at the time(back in 2001) is there wasn't enough data on the fire ring setup in a street truck with high miles. I think I would still go with an Oring setup on a street truck.
