12v with a 47re...?

so I have a 1st gen 12v in a parts pickup, I am going to swao it into a sort wide chevy, the parts truck has a g360 but is 2wd, I am wanting Overdrive and happen to have a 47re that is a 4wd tranny laying around. my thoughts are to figure some way to make the 47re into a non electronic tranny. any one had any luck with this?
 
It's do-able. It's more work than an RH though. You HAVE to run a manual valve body and you have to get switches to activate lockup and overdrive. So nothing is really "automatic" about it anymore. Cole Dow runs an RE in his P-pumped first gen.
 
do you know what his username is so I can try to get some more info on this.
 
I'm not even sure it will work since your 47re is for a 4x4. That needs to be your first question, if it will work on a 2 wheel drive or not. I'm not sure.
 
The Chevy is 4wd so the tranny will suit me purpose but I'm not sure what I'm dealing with.
