1st gen head with p-pump question

I p-pumped my 1st gen at the beginning of this year but I am still running my ve head. My question is related to the section of the intake plenum where the overflow valve is notched in a p-pumped head. Is there enough material on my ve head to grind that notch out to get the overflow valve out or am I going to have to remove my pump to access it. All I need to do is stretch my spring and it would really suck if I had to pull the pump to do it! Thanks for the help guys.

Grind just enough to get it out.

I think I need about a 1/2" so I was wondering if there was enough material
