Why not go out there and take 1 off, get some new u-bolts, and find out that way?

better yet if your too cheap to buy new u-bolts and some nuts wouldn't screw onto the old rusty u-bolts, just bust out the welder and weld the mount to the u-bolts mine have held perfectly and if I ever have to remove the u-bolt a torch woulda been cuttin them off anyway.

got 5/8 ubolts made for my 2nd gen, iirc they are 4'' longer and got double hardware with them for $50. who the heck is too cheap for that??

The plates are little different on the 1st gen... We took the plate off the bottom and welded the brackets to the plate...
