2002 Ram 2500 Air Dog 150?

I recently bought this truck(see sig) when I go to start the truck is the Air Dog pump supposed to cycle before starting? The Air Dog does not run until the starter turns. My friend has a 03 with a fass on it and his pump cycles as soon as the key is in the run position.
The reason I am asking is because when the truck sits for a few days it is hard to start unless I bump the starter to get the fuel pump to cycle. Thanks

Typically the airdog is plugged in to the stock lift pump wiring. And the stock pump doesn't run til ignition. Hard wiring it is easy, right to ignition so that the moment the key goes forward, she's priming up your line sir.

Also, if it is wired into the factory lift pump wiring the pump will be shut off at anything over 4K rpms if the truck is capable of it.

Not to mention, the ecm can "fail to tell" the lift pump to even turn on. Hard wire it!
