Doing first p pump 24v and running a stock 12v cam for the moment. My question is can I run the 24v tappets with the 12v cam?

Fuel pump lobe would be my guess

Ya ran out of funds and using the stock lift pump for now. Lookin to upgrade cam and run a a1000 set up later. Wasn't sure if the 24v tappets on a 12v cam would be a problem.

If it's used tappets on a used cam it can increase the wear, but if it's only for short time, then I wouldn't worry about it.

Recondition them like Big Blue24 did. He used 500 grit sand paper over a mirror with some oil. Moved them in a figure 8 pattern and rolled them for the bevel on the edge.

I'm running 24v tappets on my 12v cam.

I have my old tappets that my machinist resurfaced for me just sitting around.

Tappets are fairly inexpensive , why not use new ones , in any case the 12 , 24 valve and CR tappets are the same height, but you can not run the small 12 valve tappets on any good perfromance grind ,

the 24 valve cam is a far better cam then a 12 valve

How's the 24v better? Isn't there only a little difference in the exhaust lobes?

They like using the 24v cams to regrind because the lobes are wider and they have the most LSA already in them. The CR have a much tighter LSA.

The 24 valve cam is a 108 lobe separation
The 12 valve is 101 to 102 LSA
The CR cam is 98 LSA

The Stock CR intake lobe is 160.7 @ .50 66.8 @ .200
The Stock 24 valve intake is 173,2 @ .050 82.6 @ 200

CR exhaust is 192.1 @ .050 114.5 @ ,200
24 valve 201.3 @ .050 102 .3 @ .200

Do you have the 12v duration numbers to compare as well? Any lift numbers on the cams?

Would there be a benefit to use a stock 24v cam in a mild 12v build?
