How close are the valve seats on a 24v head? I've never seen one with it out.

Ignoring valve shrouding, why can't I just induction harden the parent material and grind new seats without the OEM seats pressed in?

The valves would have to be significantly larger, and would run into the bore.

You can do whatever you want if TBO-ish longevity isn't needed... i.e. comp engine builds cover a multitude of sins. :)

The early 24V heads didn't have press in seats. Those were VP44 heads and I'm guessing you mean a CR one. They also didn't have the PC style valve stem seals, so there was enough oil going down the stems to keep the "seats" and valve faces lubed.

Keeping the back side of the "parent" material cool and controlling the expansion is a better solution, IMO.
