Navistar to resume production of diesel engines for Ford

Reuters / March 1, 2007 - 8:00 am

DETROIT (Reuters) -- Navistar International Corp. said it will resume production of the Power Stroke diesel engines that power Ford Motor Co.'s F-series Super Duty pickups.

The announcement follows a temporary order by a Michigan court requiring Navistar to resume shipping the engines to Ford. Under the order, Ford will pay, without deductions, for all the engines it receives from International Truck and Engine Corp., Navistar's principal operating company, the company said in a statement.

Navistar is the only supplier of diesel engines to Ford's F-series Super Duty pickup, one of the automaker's most profitable vehicles and a key launch this year.
