86 VW Golf question

What the hell is the plastic tank called and where can I get a cap for it? It's under the car where the fuel pump would be on a gas vehicle. TIA

Does the fuel line run through it? There should be a fuel/water separator down there. It needs to be emptied when the glow plug light starts on after being started.

It has 2 lines going from the fuel tank and 2 going to the engine. No wires or filters that I can see. Oh and the glowplug light hasn't worked since I bought the car lol.

I would suggest getting rid of it. It is a water separator.

Ok I like the sound of that. Next question- Can I put a lift pump of some sort on here?

I had a lift pump on my rabbit when I burned waste oil in it!
