Am i the only one with bad luck?

So now I have the tach after initial startup for maybe 10 seconds and then I lose it, but even after I lose it the scanner will read my cam sensor... This thing is a gremlin

Had the same issue on my 01. Mine was the tone ring a piece of it broke out so only 2/3 was there and it did exactly as you describe. Initial start up it'd read then go to nothing. I still had the alt. Working and the lift pump would still run. On a snap on scanner it would read irratic rpms

I pulled both motor mount bolts and lifted the engine as high as I could. Did not have to unbolt the pickup tube. Was fun trying to get the one side to sit back down in the saddle lol

My passenger side mount was a bugger to get slid back in when I put my motor back in. I chalked it up to the energy suspension inserts being a little thicker than stock

Stock inserts. Ended up standing on the valve cover with a large old tre from a truck and a 12lb short handle sledge hammer to get it to drop back in lol

I beveled the bottom of the rubber inserts seemed to help. Also swearing and smoking cigarettes seem to ease the process haha

This project has been a chit show for me so far... Have oil leaking from where the pump mounts to the gear case now :( I must have rolled the seal or cut it..

I pulled the pump today seal was fine replaced the seal on the front of the pump... Still have the same dam leak... What am I missing? Is there another seal on the front of the pump that could be bad? I'm running the oil feed on the driver side with a restrictor is it just too much oil pushing out of the pump? Even if it was it just drains right into the gear case...

Did you ever find out if it was a cummins or aftermarket gear case? I've never had any issue with leaking from the spot you're talking about, on any trucks I've messed with. Maybe the hole was machined too large.

It's an aftermarket case I found out today, they said they've never had one leak in that area. I'm pretty sure the can sensor isn't leaking, I took a bore scope and looked at the cam sensor and couldn't see it leaking. Is there a seal at the front of the pump that could be leaking?

Who's "they"? :poke:

I cleaned everything with brake clean, after I replaced the seal on the pump. It's a dap gear case. Or wherever they source it from.

Because the guy I got the "kit" from said he was wrong and the gear case was from dap as stated in the post you quoted. As I also said dap said it was an aftermarket case but that they've never had any problems with them

Did you get it fixed? I was recently informed about your thread. I will confirm, we supplied our own gear case and also used some of Crazy Carls parts in our kit. The gear case was not from Carl.
