Battery Disconnect

Battery disconnect will not kill the engine. It will only disconnect battery power. With that said, disconnects are most times only in the ground cable.

I was thinking there was a way to hook the alternator up also to shut the engine off.

Do wha...? If your pump shutoff is manually operated it wont matter what you do to the electrical system it's still gonna run. Air shutoff and be done...

Yes. I want to be able to kill the engine while it is running via the disconnect switch.

Red Rattler you are correct I never thought about my manual fuel shut off. I could just put the switch in the negative cab then.

If you want to stop the engine simply cut power to the fuel solenoid. Since you started this thread in the sled pulling section we can only assume you're asking about an emergence kill/shut off in which case the only effective means is an air shut off on the intake.

Wait....did this get switched to a gasser forum while I wasn't looking? LOL

Maybe you can tie a string to the kill fuse and just yank it out when the time comes?
