Battery relocation question.

What size battery cable would you use to relocate the battery in the spare tire location? I’m using JL Marine grade spools and terminals. Specifically 2 or 0 awg. Or is 0awg enough with the distance? I do have a short bed.

I would do OO or (2/0) AWG wire.

I would refer to an ampacity chart for the correct amount of current a given size wire can carry for the distance you are wanting to run, instead of guessing.

I was under the assumption that only applies to alternating current.

You bring up a valid point. Upon further searching I found a charts specifically for DC wire sizing. I would still measure all variables and refer to charts. Sounds like you are going to have a race application truck. Don’t these normally see extended cranking intervals?

You should be fine with 0 awg at that length.

Daily driver. I’m after driving dynamics and I’d like to simplify engine swaps. Shock tower deletes & oil cooler relocation coming too. AC deleted. I’ll need lots of nitrous for drag racing. I do live right by Muncie though.
