Build dates to decide if a truck is 04 or 04.5 model

Looking to see what build date determines if the truck is a 04 or 04.5 if that makes sense.

01-06 =04
06-12 =04.5
If you have a June build date then then use the engine number on the I.D. tag to verify.
Not sure if the injectors have a part number on them?

Interesting, last night I found some info that said anything built before 12/31/03 is 04 and 1/1/04 and on is 04.5.
 
I always thought that looking at the radiator shroud is the easiest way to id early vs late.
 
Damn too late for me to do now haha forgot to look at all the differences when I was checking out at truck. I know the build date on it is 9/03
 
My dad just bought an early '04. You will be able to tell by the engine tag on the driver's side of the valve cover. Early will have a 305hp rating. Late '04 will show a 600ft-lb rating.
 
mine is C and the sticker says 325hp so it's a 04.5 right no doubt?! There is no ftlB rating on the sticker??
 
Not sure of dates, But didn't the 04.5 lose the pcm from the fire wall and go with a tps on the throttle pedal ? 03-04 tps was on the head or under the battery tray.

Yup and Yup that's dead give away!!
 
All the 03-04's i've seen have this "caution" fan shroud.

04.5+ have this plain shroud.

I don't think 04.5's were built until around feb/march of 04.

OP, 9/03 build date is 03-04.

I appreciate it! Posts kept going back and fourth about that it could be haha.
 
03 firewall pcm engine ecm 250hp has lower cr and 47re old style piston squirters and usually 12v rods
04 has coolant bottle on fan shroud,305hp and no firewall ecm, and built before Jan of 04.
04.5 has coolant bottle behind RH battery ,325 HP built Jan 1 of 04 or after. Both have tps under hood
05 tps on pedal,ttva on trans
06 -97my 5.9 built before Jan 1 07 communications change from sci to bus
07 6.7 built Jan 1 07 and after
