Can someone tell me what this is i found in my pump?

I found this in my pump tonight. Looks like a shim or something. It was down by the governor assembly twisted and mangled. The pump ran fine when i took it off the truck so what can this be.

Yeah looks like a shim the size the idle spring

That had me worried. The guy that I bought the truck from had already put gov springs in it but apparently he went through the top instead of the side cause the side is still wired. Im glad I just happened to spot it.
