Connecting Rods, 89-98 5.9L 12 Valve

Bobcat698

Pure Diesel Power
I've been told that the 5.9L Marine 370 rods are the strongest in comparison to the 89-98 rods.
I'm told the 89-95 rods are slightly weaker, & the 96-98 rods are a bit beefier.

However, when I looked the parts up in quickserve, ALL of the rods from 89-98 show the same part number.

I'm guessing that they made changes over the years and strengthened the rods, then superseded ALL of the numbers to a single part number, which is potentially as strong or stronger than the 370 marine rods.

Anyone else have an idea, does this sound right?

HMMM I don't know Garrett, are you tearing your blavk truck down again? I know Cunningham has some "Diamond-Lock" connecting rods but they are super expensive.

This info is based in engine serial numbers and Quickserve .

I did the same investigation AsTross and found the same thing.. So I don't understand how the info I got came to be.

It is more of a torque limit, than a HP. Guys are pushing 1200+ with stock rods at higher rpm. The guys that are tweaking the stock rods are doing so at about 1000HP but at a max rpm less than 3400.
