How is the durability of these engines?
Does it handle revs up to 5000 with the regular mods most people do to the 5,9?
Say up to 500-600 horses.
Would like to use a 24v head on it if the block can take the hp and revs.

I'm curious because i found 1 cheap locally

They hate RPMS. I'm saying 3000 plus is a perfect way to shatter the cylinder liners.

Snedge is right on rpm. They can make a decent amount of hp/ftlbs without high rpm's though. I installed a 3000gsk & #6 plate in my 8.3 & set plate just past midway for an extra 100-125hp in my MH. Can make lots more but the Allison trans wouldn't like it, so staying somewhat conservative.

Man, if Jory would ever finish his dump truck he could weigh in on this with some first hand info! Of course he only has about 5 more yrs left before he hits that decade mark!

He's getting to the point in life that 5 more years will have him on social security.

The 8.3 is a torque monster. Not a screamer. Good luck. Make your power down low.
