Dana?

Ok I think my 97 3500 has a dana 80 in it. But I know a guy that has dana 70 locker and I was wondering if it would work in my truck or is tge ring gear different?

I'm pretty sure the 70 and 80 carriers don't interchange.

if its a 3500 you def have a D80 & no the 70 locker will not work in it.

like said all duallys are dana 80 the 2500 trucks autos where 70 and stick trucks should be 80's unless you have a truck converted to stick just look at axle tubes 70's are one straight diameter. the 80 is larger from the center section out just a little beyond the springs then necks down (gets smaller to the backing late for the brakes. and they dont interchange.

dana 80 is a 11 1/4 inch ring gear while a dana 70 is a 10 1/2
