deleting the third brake light

has anyone removed and filled the third brake light hole. i know mine leaks and i dont wanna deal with water intrusion any more.
 
I believe its federal law that vehicles 93 and newer must have 3 working brake lights.

i looked into this, in maryland is says you must have atleast two working brake lights but i couldnt find anything dealing with a 3rd brake light.
 
Mine leaked when I got my truck. I took it off, used silicone to seal it up. Never a leaked again!

Depending on what vehicle it is, the cruise is tied into that circuit. Not sure if that is how trucks are or not.
