If the new trucks have the DPF then exactly why does is need an EGR? Why pump all that soot/acid back in the motor when you have a DPF to clean it up?

How do you disable the EGR without tripping the lights or metling something?

The EGR reduces the NOx Emissions only. Nitrogen and Oxygen like each other and bind at High temps and make NO1, NO2, NO7 yatta yatta yatta. The EPA swares that NOx is more harmful than Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and Carbon Monoxide (CO) particulate matter. The EGR actually causes the engine to make more of all. Even though CO and CO2 kill thousands of people every year. And CO2 is supposedly causing this "Global Warming" Apocalypse that Al Gore turned into a Virus.

But back on track. The EPA allows no trade off of emissions because they are lazy, stupid and corrupt. Thus we have the EGR valve that almost levels the playing field when considering buying a car or truck and deciding whether to go Gas or Diesel.

We can go further into this, but my opinion of how f---ed we are really starts rear it's ugly head.

I don't know anything about the refining process for making fuels, but perhaps it's a global thing, and the powers that be don't want all of us driving diesels because then what would they do with all of that extra gasoline? Europe doesn't want it - their vehicles are mostly diesel.

So the government takes away the diesel advantage - who wants to spend the extra money to get a diesel when it isn't any more efficient and doesn't last longer than a gas burner anymore.

Well it's really the biggest problem in America. Because they leave Diesel to meet the gas emissions tier guidelines. Even though a gasser could never make the little CO and CO2 that a Diesel makes. So the EPA pretty much says
"Go ahead make more CO and CO2"
It really gives them half the work to do. Instead of policing two sets of emissions, they only police one.

Not exactly for sure, but not nearly as stupid. They do have alittle more room to breath for NOx emissions. They also have alot more Cetane in their fuel and Sulfur is 50PPM.
