F250 Dt360 Swap is back

All right, where do I start? Towards the beginning of the year I started a thread about swapping a dt360 into my 1999 f250 with a V10, and the project kind of went cold for a little bit because I gave my cylinder head to the machine shop in February and just got it back beginning of November. So if anyone remembers that thread, this is the same one, because of the inactivity my old thread got closed so we're just going to pick up right where I left off with this new one. To anyone who is new, I have a 1992 dt360 out of a school bus that I will be p7100 swapping, upgraded pushrods and valve springs, Carson stuff for trans adapter to a 4r100 that I had rebuilt and upgraded by a local guy down here in Jacksonville North Carolina. Originally I had planned for compound turbos with the stock dt360 turbo and an s369 but I have decided to just stick to a single turbo with an s366. Just this past weekend I started the full rebuild on the dt360, I'm just doing the in frame rebuild kit not the full overhaul. So just pistons, sleeves, rings, bearings. This upcoming weekend my plan is to weld my rocker arms to support the upgraded valve springs, of course that is only if I can't find cast rocker arms for this engine. Which brings me to my first question, does anyone know if a 466 cast rocker arm work on a dt360? If it does, I know where I can get a whole set for five bucks, which will be great. It's great to finally be back on an update with this motor and I will keep all of you posted as things go on.

To answer your questions about the rocker arms......I have no idea.
 
So, this past weekend i got the head back on the motor and the rocker arms welded up. Due to the lacking information and mix opinions on the welding for those rocker arms, i have pictures and confirmed info. Carson Stauffer told me exactly where i needed to weld and what to do. Mig welder is recommended has best bc of the heat control and the fact mig welding is a basic skill that easy to learn.
 
Dt360 welded rocker arms

Simple bead right along the top is all that is needed, just dont weld over the oil supply hole and stay about an 1/8" away from the lash adjustment and the rocker tip, i also stayed away about an 1/8 on each side of the oil supply hole. Ive never been a pretty welder but I've never failed a weld test or had a pipe leak so, lol. Hope this information becomes useful for someone

I take it the rocker arms must be two pieces? As in a piece that bent and pressed together leaving a crackfull length?

Correct, its just 2 pieces of stamped steel, rivet welded in a few spots. Carson was adamant about heat control and mig welding being the best, cheapest and most efficient process to weld the rockers.
As for a little update, i finally got the turbo. I decided on a s363 turbo, i did a mock up and test fit, got an idea of what parts i need for plumb it. Big progress coming soon

Did you finish this truck? Still working on it? I am about to dive head first into a DT/P7100 swap and am curious what you did for an intake manifold? I have the same one that points down and it interferes with the aneroid.

I did actually finish the truck, ended up putting it into a f350. As for the intake manifold, i ended getting an AG manifold off of a Dresser dozer. It fits better but you will still have to die grinder material off the manifold and the top corner of the AFC housing on the p7100. Or you need to take material out on the intake manifold has plenty of meat, be careful and work a little bits of time but it will fit in there. I'll see if I can get a picture

Thanks! I am going to check my dozer(‘71 td15b) but I think the manifold on that is just an elbow. What year Dresser did the manifold come off of?

I did end up finding your build thread and you are quite talented. I am not sure I would try this or any swap outside. I have 2 left hands🤪 and am not much of a mechanic. How long did the swap take you, start to finish? Do you drive the truck every day?
