F800 4x4 CUMMINS

I certainly takes a person with some grit to enjoy one of these rigs.

Like it don't take grit to stick it out with building a bad ass "low rider" 1947 Dodge 1.5 ton truck, Cummins P-pump 24valve, or many of the other cool projects on here!! Looking forward to seeing more of your work!!

im thinkin a very sweet rough terrain cattle hauler here..

with a flatbed and gooseneck hitch (provided it was low enough)... but a flatbed and paintjob will make that thing pure sweetness

After some more play time, I plan to put this boom from my 1970 C60 on it for a while. It wants a Cummins too!!!

Its always good to have a decent engine hoist on these kind of projects!! A little more wire brushing and she'll be ready to paint. Around here, we have a saying, "If it ain't fast, Chrome it!" A little paint is ok tho. Time to decide if it should get one of my Big Stick cams or stay with the slightly milder one already in it.

Got a little more done. Motor has to come out again after some measuring for intake, turbos, etc and finish assembly. A little more welding on cross member and paint frame.

Thought I'd do a little update. Since motor had to go back in without tranny to redo clutch mechanism thingy, I decided to stand it up and install one of my Colt Big Stick cams. After some research,I decided it best to spend less than a hundred bucks on new Interstate McBee lifters instead of refacing some old ones. Colt refaces and parkerizes for $99, but didn't want to wait. Forgot to take my degree wheel, so will check centerline and time pump tomorrow. I have several intercoolers and radiators from some Ford Cummins school buses, compliments my good buddy Brian Vannest. Sadly the rads won't fit, so spent some time fabbing up brackets for intercooler and stock rad. I just can't cut any more out of frame for the bus rads. Also got started on intake for the cut out head nobody noticed.

Checked Big Stick intake centerline today and come up with 94.25 using Hamiltons method at .010 each side of max lift. Get 95 centerline measuring at .050 lift at both ends. Research says advancing 4 degrees lowers power curve 200 rpm. Intake begins to open at 20 BTDC and is .045 at TDC. Piston to valve clearance at TDC is .060. Closed to .045 at 10 ABDC. All checked with indicator on spring retainer. Checked by eye only so far, exhaust begins to open 50 BBDC and closed at 5 BTDC.

Opinions appreciated.

Seems it's been forever, but engine is all together. Decided to run it as a single for now with a stock intake. That will change after its broke in. Cranked it up last week and instantly filled shop with so much smoke that I could barely find the shut off! LOL. Gotta pull front end with rad and IC back off today to check timing. That seems easier than working off a stepladder. Timing was set at 20, but something ain't right!!
