Head-studs and socket size questions

I know I need a 14mm socket, but does it have to be deep or regular? Also do I need any extensions. This is for my 05' common rail. Haven't had the valve covers off yet so I don't know if the height of the injectors or anything else are in the way.

It needs to be a 12 point socket. Shallow socket will work, on a 12v a deep well wont clear the cowl on all of them.

14mm shorts work fine. Just be sure you use a 1/2 drive long racket or breaker bar. Mine wouldn't budge without it.

I actually prefer a 14mm deep socket- it's got more knuckle clearance over the radiator hose. JMHO, of course.

The deep wont clear my cowel on the long studs. Not an issue on the 24v.
