IDI Boost questions

Im new to the IDI family and I cant seem to find any where how much boost the 7.3l can handle...I was told that it was not originally a turbo diesel and someone put a ATS turbo kit on it and the most boost i have ever been able to get out of it is 7lbs of boost...i was kinda disappointed about that. whats the most i can push?
 
Dang...thats disappointing. guess this engine will be getting torn down and rebuilt for more boost.
 
there is a couple big idi guys on here. maybe they will chime in for you.
 
Highest STOCK headbolt 6.9l has handled 20psi (so far)
Highest STOCK headbolt 7.3l has handled 24psi (so far)
Highest Modded head stud 6.9l has handled 35psi (so far)
Highest modded head stud 7.3l has handled 30psi (so far)

My bone stock 93 factory turbo is set to 7psi

All from first hand experience
 
Maybe lower compression a bit and it will take more boost???? I know nothing about the bottom ends on the IDI's though
 
thanks guys. i will need to do alot of research on these motors i guess. its a 7.3l and i know it can do more than what its doing right now.
 
7 is stock 15 is safe any more than 15 and there is really no gain unless you are inter cooled the 20 is safe with a stock motor
 
ok im gettin a 89 f250 with a banks kit on it this weekend how do i boost it from 7psi to 15psi im gonna turn my pump up a tid also whats safe to push with a turned up pump @15 psi
