Whats everyones thoughts on injector protrusion and its effects on timing / tuning.
 
I'm no guru but my thinking is that more injector protrusion would be harder to tune and be less forgiving with timing. Also I would think piston bowl design and modifications would need to be considered in the case of more protrusion. Just my 0.2. Interested in others responses.
 
For what its worth from 32* to 36* is 0.100" of piston travel, that pretty much tells me what I wanted to know. If anyone has any input on timing i'd like to hear it.
 
I pulled my head off the other day and all 6 injectors had hit the top of the dome at one time, so there can be too much protrusion. I think it was the combination of .5mm sealing washers, and 1st gen non-intercooled pistons, oh and lots of rpm and heat.
