Has anyone made their own set up? What is needed or so special that they charge 1700 for a kit?

What about a 4th gen 5500 front end? Looks like a beast but still no locking hubs!

I think a big part of the cost is machining for the adapter spindles. If someone was handy with a lathe though I don't see why you couldn't make your own adapters and just source the parts to put it together.

Not to mention the fact that once the front axle wears the U-joints and constant velocity joint out, it often ends up destroying the t-case.
Such a mentally challenged move and it's been that way for the Cummins trucks since around March or April of 2002.

Mark.

Just remove the front drive shaft in the summer :Cheer:

Is anything available for the 5500 ram front end? As far as hub kit? Anybody know the size of that axle? Man that's a sweet unit! Will it fit??
