That is the clearance from dodge.98 12v.Let me do some diggin.

chrysler service manual says
Rods: .0035 max. out of round .002 taper .0005
Mains: .0047 max. out of round .002 taper .0005

unless i am mistaken....... he is asking for OIL CLEARANCE. This would only be gotten by using plastigauge. I would assume rod bearings to be .0015 to .002 or maybe even .0025. Just an educated guess though. As far as MAINS..... i would add .004 or so??? Not For sure. just coming out my head.

those clearances I listed are the maximums

you are quite correct Lance - most like to see .0015 to .002 for an everyday motor - if it is a race motor then we like to see a fair bit more - as in right up to those maximums
