Need help on building up tranny

I just got my first duramax, its a 2005 2wd with 85,000 miles on, just put on 5in exhaust and PPE hot +2. Haven't turn the PPE up past three cause i know the transmission won't hold up to much more. So my question is what do I need to do to get my transmisson to hold around 500 rwhp? Torque converter and shift kit, or is it better to do a full performance rebuild on it?

IIRC, a Transgo, converter and some internal trans mods are needed on the 5spd to make it hold up correctly. Cant think of any good Dmax shops in Texas right off that could do the build, though.

Okay thanks for the info. Yeah I've only found one shop around the Austin area that does good work with the allison transmission. They built a buddy's of my transmission with the suncoast rebuild kit and he hasn't had any problems with it so far and its been about a year.
