NV4500 Trans temp gauge

Is there any benefit to having a trans temp gauge on my manual trans? I know they can run a little warm while towing but is there anything to worry about or has anybody destroyed a trans by overheating? I was also going to buy a second sensor and install in the rear axle and be able to toggle between axle and trans off the same gauge.

Not needed unless towing at max GVW all the time. Run a good GL4 gear oil and you'll be fine!
