P 1689 code

We've gotten a p1689 code on our vp truck. The truck will routinely stumble and sound like it has stumbled then pick back up.

My fuel pressure gauge reads 15psi at idle and 5psi under throttle.

I have only owned this truck since this past summer. The previous owner had put a new vp44 on it right before we bought it. The wiring on the back of the pump looks kinda suspect. Do you think the wiring is what would cause this code ?

comm error..that wiring is shit...solder it and shrink wrap it...looks like they broke the plug getting it off..thats def an issue...see if it does it after that is fixed....that goes right to the ecm

So I pulled the wire harness loose from the pump and no sooner did I do that and two wires popped loose out of the little plastic connectors. So I am assuming they were the culprits of the no communication code. I soldered the wires together and went for a 30 mile trip with no issues....fingers crossed, I hope this was it!

Glad you found the issue.

Are those exposed wires in the picture? South of the butt connector. Wonder why they were spliced.

It was one wire that was exposed....couldn't figure out why! it was basically naked pretty far back into the plastic sleeve that the 3 wires were in. So I isolated that wire and wrapped it in electrical tape and then put the wires into wiring loom the best I could.

need to find a good harness and cut it off a ft from the plug..solder and insulate em righ and be done with it...
