Programer information needed

My dad picked up a 07 and after driving my 06 F250 he is ver interested in a programer / chip. I think he needs a chip because a programer might be more trouble than he would use and once he sets it, he would never change it because of what It takes to do so.

Im trying to stay under $500 here
