I'm making a buddy of mine, a shifter knob for the 4x4 transfer case. I would like to know if the shifter rod is threaded or splined with glue. He has an '04, with the automatic trans. I also need to know the O.D. X Length of the rod part that the shifter knob sits on, so I know what size and how deep to bore the knob out. This is a surprise for him so I can't go and pull his off to get an measurement.

Bump, Has nobody ever have replaced there stock one with an aftermarket one?

I know it's threaded and i'm pretty sure it's the same as the trans shifter.

It is threaded, same thread size/pitch as Jeeps, 10mm x 1.5mm

I added an extension a while back, since I thought the tcase lever sat too low, and bought it from Quadratec:

Thank you for the reply and the pics. I had made some knobs for thr Ford ZF6 trans. My buddy saw them and really liked the way they came out.

I tried to upload the pics but the jpeg files are too big, so here is a link to another forum that I have them at .
