I keep reading that the 4,200 springs are longer than the stock spring, so what would be a good way to shorten it up so I don't have to go through the trouble of re-indexing throttle arms.

I cut 1.5 coils off and bent .5 coil to gain the hook back.

I shoved a screwdriver between the coils and twisted the spring until I separated the ones I was cutting off from what I was keeping. I then used wire cutters to cut it off. I think I used the needle nose and a pair of linesman pliers to bend it.

This. $.02

The thing with reindexing the longer spring is the fact you'll actually loose a little throttle stroke (internally).

Unless I'm mistaken . . . .

2800 RPM 1-464-650-386
3200 RPM 1-464-650-366
3800 RPM 1-464-650-374
4200 RPM 1-464-650-354

I personally run the 3800 spring. Works well.
