signs of a melted piston

LOL

Or... a valve seat dropped and now it just waiting for just the right moment to come out again. Then it will bend a valve, break a rod, destroy the head, window the block, snap a nozzel, and blow apart the exh wheel...

Go ahead, keep driving it.

You idiots.... this is the person I quoted in my original comment. He clearly said VALVE SEAT. Jesus I know the picture is a 12 valve. :D

Takedowns pic is a 12v...

Yes I know that.

But OP's truck is a Common Rail, yes?

Lol I feel like that line in Forrest Gump when they're sitting on the dock:

Lt. Dan: "Thought I'd try out my sea legs.."

Forrest: "Well you aint got no legs Lt. Dan"

Lt. Dan: "Yes, I know that."

Im thinking my engine has failed also. Tons of smoke on start up, with some light knocking. Im pretty excited to get it out and rebuild it.

It'll look like this:

That's pretty impressive, I have a 24V head that dropped 2 valves and one is still stuck in the piston but it's not as bad as this one.

It was running ~5500 rpms with a heavy sled behind it. haha. At that point there was no shutting it down until it fell under the charger.
