starting noise

When i bought my 97 F250HD 7.3 a few months ago the seller told me it needed a new starter solenoid,20 bux. Every now and then it won't start and makes a noise like someone trying to start an engine thats already running. I've replaced both the starter and starter solenoid and battery's are fairly new. I'm lost any suggestions?

Sounds like you have a bad section of teeth on the flywheel.
