The Turbo Whistle

How can you make the 96 and 97 7.3's turbo to whistle more?

Cousin of mine wanted me to ask here about it...

He has an aftermarket muffler that kinda whistles,
but he wants it at the engine compartment...
Still has stock airbox and stock airfilter
And a ts chip

Remove the stock air box and put in a DIY filter.
I did it to my 96 and I can really hear the turbo.

ditto, the intake will make a big difference

Open element intakes seem to do really well letting the turbo whistle be heard, such as an AFE....etc....

Do It Yourself... like take a conical filter and attach it to the intake hose

speaking of which, who knows the NAPA part number for the DIY filter (the 'tymar' style that floated around TDS for a while)? Mines dirty as all hell and I can't remember wtf I put on there.

I think it's a 6637, I bought mine at carquest.

don't forget about the cobra neck downpipe. swap that booger out and it'll help get that thing spinning on the back end a lot as well.
