I run decently high boost on my truck and needed to let that boost go somewhere because I was starting to push oil. Here are some pictures of what I did, sadly is raining out today or I would show you some installed pics of the cover back on the truck.

I started off by buying a Cummins Valve cover that is Cast Aluminum since the Dodge ones are Magnesium. Bought some aluminum breathers and welded them onto the cover.

Then here are just primer, painted and sanded down pictures in my garage.

I painted the whole thing, then took sand paper and razor blade over all the raised letters and middle strips... Was a little time consuming around the breathers since the letters and strips went under them a little bit.

Made me realize I probably don't have the patience to do body work lol.

ha ha well it looks great!

Looks good.

I've got a vacuum pump pulling through a oil separator. That's connected to a pitot on the exhaust. I just need to remember emptying the oil separator occasionally.

Yeah when you take it off it has an "MG" mark on the inside which I missed when hitting it with a welding tip. Dodge put the Magnesium valve covers on because they were "noise dampening." I found all this out after drilling and attempting to weld.

Here is an installed pic on the truck:

I just ran lines down to the bottom of the engine for a natural dump, just how the one is on the front of the truck ... no more catch can.

are you sure the dodge valve cover Is magnesium? i'm 99% sure mine is aluminum

Pretty sure the bare metal with the red lettering valve covers are aluminum. The black painted covers found on the later 24v's were magnesium.

Something to thing about with breathers. If you put them on top which is easiest this creates a up draft in the motor if you have a lot of blowby. This intern holds a lot of oil up in the valve cover. Not saying this is bad just a cause and effect. I don't think it will hurt on a motor in short spurts but in a long event it could starve the oil system.

I learned this from some buddies in the tractor pulling world. They build evac systems in the oil pan which lets the oil or really helps in back into the pan. Probably overkill on a street truck but just something to think about if you have trouble.

The valves stay pretty dry on a cummins anyways, so that might not be a bad thing! ha ha
