Hello everyone,
I've been on the site for a little while now researching everything I can while repairing my ppumped 24v truck. This is my first diesel and I'm trying to learn all I can. When I bought it I found out it had a cracked head, and needed new injectors. So I got a new cylinder head for it, and the mechanic recommended Bosch Marine 370 injectors, which I believe are 5x.013's. I have a remanufactured HX35 turbo, with a #100 fuel plate, and I was told when I bought it that it has a 4K governor spring kit but I've only seen it get to around 3,200 at WOT so I'm thinking it has the 3K GSK.
Can anyone tell me why I'm getting white smoke at startup, and long crank time, even when warm? Here is a video that shows me starting it up with a little tap of the pedal, and then the next part is a crank with no pedal. This is after driving on the highway for around 30 minutes at 70 mph so it is fully warmed up on both cranks. The smoke and crank time is worse in the mornings when cold, but goes away right after starting up, no haze at idle or anything unless it is below 45F outside, but then that is only for a couple of minutes until warm.

Could the governor springs be adjusted incorrectly? Or is this just expected with the ppump? Idle speed is around 750 rpm in gear, but if you bump the throttle too much and let it off in gear it will stall. Auto transmission. Thanks for the help!
