New 6.70/5.90 drag truck build.

This truck is going to be unbelievably light weight. Looking good sir.

I appreciate it.

There are some realllly light trucks out there, mine definitely wont be the lightest but I am trying to do what I can. My main goal is to get the chassis as light as possible, then later on I can bolt on lighter body panels and axle upgrades. I think Rick Foxs' 5.90 truck is 3700lbs! He only needs 900-1000hp to run in that class, so damn cool.

Started burning in the antiroll bar last night.

So I found another 20lbs to remove. I still need to add the side bar between outriggers though. Just a few more things to do and I can bring the 03 home and start swapping parts over.

Mounted the battery box and disconnect switch. I plan on running pull/push rod to the end of the bed, it will saw some weight, save some money on wire, and the shorter the wire is to the starter the more it should help.

Finally got this gusset bar built, I am debating just doing a funny car cage now... idk.

Did a little more lightening on the frame, I cut six 4" holes in each side of the frame, I dont think it will effect strength and it was an easy way to lose 6.5lbs. Its not a lot, but everything adds up.

Finished up painting the interior and undercarriage and I am working on making it a roller again to give me some room to swap in the engine.

Mounted my ARC switch panel and ran the ribbon cable down the cage.

Got the 03 home and started tearing it down and swapping parts. Things are coming along.

Got the 03 stripped this weekend and bought some 4th gen wheels and tires for it. I am going to put the truck completely back to stock and sell it. Nv5600 and all.

Little update... I found a melted/damaged piston in the bottom end of the 03 engine, so now I am rebuilding that engine before I can move forward.

I should only need 700-750hp for 6.70 and 1100hp for 5.90, so I am not going to build a serious shortblock, just something that will get me by for the season. Turned out this engine had been replaced at some point, it has 12v rods, metal cooling nozzles, 360* thrust main cap, and sleeves.

I am going to try and rehone the cylinders, put a new set of Mahle STD wide bowl pistons, H series bearings, with a good balance job and let’er eat. I also sent the head to my CNC guy (chapmanindustriestx) to mill the head for my D&J intake.

Waiting on the shortblock and head still... I did get an Edge CTS2 for gauges, probably going to use the data log kit with it. If you havent seen my tow rig thread, I bought a new tow rig so I have been getting that lined out and working to get these other trucks put back together and sold.

I started planning financials for the 2020 race season today as I will need to start saving now. I wont be able to make as many of the races as I hoped so I can forget about going for a championship. It would be about $10k in just fuel, food, and entry fees to make every ODSS race alone... I will just have to be happy with 4 races unless I can win and put more money in that pot to afford travel for more races.

Each of the 9 races average about 2200 miles round trip and I would spend about $800 for each one on fuel alone. It would total about 20,000 miles of travel for just that one series, per year. I also planned on coming out to some Diesel Thunder and TDO races, but they are closer.

Any updates on any of your recent project trucks? Sell the 03 or 04?

I have just been trying to get these engines built. I haven’t had any real interest with my 04, same ole thing... everybody wants it but nobody has the money to buy it. I’ll give it until tax season, if it doesn’t sell I will part out the cool stuff and put the truck back to stock and sell for a much cheaper price.

I have also decided to sell my house in SA and start building in Poteet. So I have been cleaning up some things, and starting to plan our new place. Gonna build the shop, get water, electricity, driveway, and septic done. Then buy a trailer house and live in that while the house is being built.

Ship that puppy to me and I can sell it for you in a heartbeat. Have a lot of kids around here with daddy's money wanting to stunt for the gram LOL

In all seriousness I have learned its a lot easier to sell as "stock" than modified.
