Oh what that's not the math I meant to send, it was the other one but can't remember which or how I got it, but a cousins uncles roommates brother was close on his guess so it has to be right!

I fail to see how that's keeping it close to the chest, or even still attached to his terrestrial body for that matter!

I get what you guys are saying, and sure Archie may not always explain things the best. But the basis of his plan is already widely proven, and I understand not being overly forthcoming about it because there are people on here that do have more available resources, that if they so chose could "steal" it. Just be patient, throw the man a bone when he's trying to double check stuff.

My wife done some general math with the post counts and replies. Less than 2% of the folks viewing this thread at any given time have a chance at understanding. She told me the drama was good and that's why I've held most of your all's attention.

Transmission question, suppose I had a single speed reverser where the forward gear matched say the overdrive of a 47rh?? Suppose I was in a setting such as Bonneville and had all the cooling and hydraulic pressure I needed.

With say a triple disc converter, could I eventually get up to speed and lock the converter??

My issue is that I have literally seen/been a part of hundreds of these threads over the years on multiple forums. Maybe, and I mean this is a stretch, but 1 out of a hundred actually materializes, and makes it to the finish line. I can't tell you how many times I have read "can I put a DT466 in my F-150?" over the years.

47rh Overdrive is 0.69 ratio. I'm sure with a loose enough converter, you could gain the necessary torque to get it to move. Is it possible to make a setup like that come off the line violently enough for drag racing where the first 100' of the track is so critical for ET, I don't know.

We regularly have customers drive into the shop with a broken or hurt transmission is a 3rd gear limp mode, so just a plain Jane 1800 stall torque converter will move a 7k truck with the trans stuck in 3rd gear/direct or 1.00 ratio. They are sluggish and give the perceived feeling of a slipping trans but will move the truck.

I imagine if the truck was light weight, it would move just fine. The only way you could test your theory would be to convince someone with a race truck with a full manual VB to try launching in 3rd or even overdrive and see how the truck comes off the line and if the trans overheats before lockup can be achieved.

I'm not going bash on your wife at all, but this is the most absurd statement I've read here or anywhere in a while; the drama portion I can buy into. I'd love to know the formula used in this equation. You don't even know my race, yet somehow you have managed to calculate my IQ along with everyone else who has viewed this thread, a statistic which you can't even see?

A couple more things...the fuel quality in the US extremely high due to federal emissions regulations. If you ever happen to catch a fuel sample while you're in Venezuela, Indonesia, central Africa, or Brazil (just to name a few); that is the real definition of poor fuel quality.

Not all fuel additives are "snake oil" ... this has been proven by Scheid, Haisley, Firepunk, etc. many times over the years.

I was really hoping to help compd out. Sorta pay the group back for what we got accomplished with that little truck. This post was an attempt to get some of those folks back on here and thinking with me. Thinking outside of the box does take a bit of craziness.

I'm off here if I have to keep putting up with stuff like WUunderwood or anyone else for that matter. I'm spending more time trying to back up stupid stuff (cause people are just skimming) when I should be working on production.

Thanks for listening Will. This is all hypothetical talk as a transmission idea came to me the other day and I wanted to discuss it here.

I'm with ya on the acceleration. That's why I mentioned Bonneville.

Now suppose you could somehow bolt another torque converter behind that one. Everything else being the same, same overdrive single speed with reverser. What would happen??
 
Crazy idea but it could double lockup like shift points, why using overdrive and not 1:1, and keep the overdrive shift?
 
Folks are custom ordering gears as numerically low as 2.70something to account for the lack of RPM's a diesel makes.

In an effort to get back to non-custom gears, the theory should be run with an overdrive unit.

We can maybe add shifting later. I want to see what happens with just torque converters.

When I spoke with Craig Liberty and ordered the six speed, he ask if I was going Bruno drive. I told him I'd love to but explained my deal with the powerglide and told him I didn't think a converter was available to get it done. Get it done in the respect of spooling and what not.

Anyhow, he said lots of pro-mod guys are switching to lower costs and maintenance. I guess the HP is there to remain competitive with a Bruno.
