EFILive FIRST Cummins Public Release

EFI Support

Comp Diesel Sponsor
EFILive is pleased to announce the release of the first PC based data scanning and custom tuning software for the 2006-2007 5.9L Dodge Cummins ECM to complement our industry leading GM Gas and Diesel Custom Tuning / Scanning programs.

Our PC Scan Tool is considered by many to be the most powerful Scan Tool on the market, allowing users to quickly and efficiently monitor and log vital data on the chosen vehicle. EFILive's Scan Tool gives users the ability to choose between pre-selected data parameter lists on the 06-07 5.9L Cummins to monitor in real time just like the Cummins Insite scan tool can. Of course you can also read and clear fault codes as well as totally customize the look of all charts and gauges.

EFILive's PC based tuning package is the first of it's kind for the Cummins, this will change the way you think about electronic performance add-ons. You have full control over what the ECM does, no more one size fits all tunes, you can customize any of the 140 tables and parameters available in this initial release that control how your engine operates any way you desire. No need for add on boxes that 'fool' or 'alter' the ECM signals for more performance, and no more half truths about what your ECM is and isn't capable of doing. Just 5 minutes to reprogram any changes you make and away you go. Simply log your vehicle after flashing to generate the data to fine tune your truck so it behaves exactly how you want it to.

Functionality Summary

In just a few short months of BETA testing we've developed solutions for a range of functions that consumers want/need. In addition we've also created some industry "firsts" for the 5.9L Cummins, some of which are detailed below.

Flashing:
  • VIN remains intact (only product that keeps this intact 100% of the time, even when compared to the Cummins Tech Authority)
  • Fastest Flash time (just over 5 mins) when compared to other products available
  • No DTC's set/No fuse removal required/No double key off/on at end of flash.
  • Interrupted reflash full recovery ok.
  • Identification of files unsuitable for reading/flashing.
  • Tuner locking – Professional tuners can protect their intellectual property by preventing the reading of their Custom Tunes.

Tuning:
  • Over 140 tuning parameters.
  • RPM limiters – all gone. (only product on the market to date that eliminates all RPM limiters) The capability of this is yet to be fully exploited. Testing demonstrates 5500RPM is capable, however this is not the limit of the ECM. Fueling tables, and aftermarket modifications are paramount for high end users.
  • 4200RPM with soft limiters (eliminating back off to 3600RPM) are fully functional and suitable for most applications.
  • Successfully removed surging and touchy throttle
  • Fuel hang significantly reduced (more work required)
  • Specific parameter tuning to suit customer's requirement (ie altitude, towing, racing, MPG)
  • Fuel pressure limiter can be raised beyond 26,000 PSI
  • Rescaling of ECM sensors (Rail Pressure, Boost Pressure)
  • Total control over injection timing and amount for all three injection events (pilot, main & post)
  • Wastegate control

Scan Tool:
  • Most comprehensive Scan Tool on the market
  • PID group selection to assist users in data logging key parameters
  • Multiple ways to display data to assist with interpretation - 3D charts, strip charts, dashboards as well as individual cell data.

Expected Future Development:
We fully expect that after our initial release, we'll be working with our customer base to extend our product further. There is enough in this tuning software release to make some serious power (it's already been done in testing), and remove those traditional annoyances. This release contains 140 tables / parameters for tuning and we expect this list to grow significantly as we work with customers who tune their vehicles for specific purposes that will require further parameters to optimize their setup and as we ourselves learn more about the operation of the ECM.

Future releases aim to include:
  • CSP – Cummins Switchable Tuning. Use an EFILive Custom OS to switch tunes on the fly.
  • Black Box functionality for reading, flashing and logging to be implemented.
  • Transmission tuning.
  • 2007-2009 6.7L Beta to commence in the 2nd half of 2011.
  • 2009+ Beta and 2003-2005 5.9L Beta – development will commence after 6.7L BETA is finalised. Dates are not yet available.

Whilst we are not the first to market a tuning solution for the 5.9L Cummins, we will certainly turn the traditional Cummins tuning methods on their heads. We are confident that those customers who purchase our product will not be disappointed.

So what do I need and what will it cost?

FlashScan V2 Scan Tool $399; and
Dodge Cummins Tuning License, $399; and/or
GM Tuning License, $399

When a customer purchases a Tuning Option license for a particular manufacturer two (2) VIN licenses will be included in the product purchase. Where a customer purchases both the GM and Dodge Cummins Tuning Option licenses a total of four (4) VIN licenses will be included. Additional vehicles can be tuned by purchasing additional VIN licenses.

Existing FlashScan V2 customers can simply purchase the Cummins Tuning Option license.

For excellent service and support, contact your EFILive reseller to arrange your purchase.

I had to take the day off work to answer emails and phone calls. I think we are going to be busy! Thanks to the EFI Live team for all the hard work in getting this out!

Hm! I understand what your saying.. I want to do my own as well but have never tuned before. Guess you gotta learn somewhere.

That's the plan. After a lot of cautious experimenting. I just want to keep my truck from smoking like a freight train all the time.

You'll be amazed how once you smooth out timing and pressure tables...your truck will be SO drivable.

Dump the post event as well....

Thanks
Les

Big thanks to the EFI crew for both getting this to the public so quickly and with so many tables to start with.

And HUGE thanks for allowing myself to be a part of the BETA process...it was a honor!!!

I look forward to lots more development possibilities with you!!

Thanks
Les

I know it says future release but is there a guess on how long it will take to release switchable tuning?

IIRC it was to be developed after all softwares were released. So look for it after the 03-05 SCI trucks have tuning...I think.

Thanks
