Did you cut a coil or are those stock shocks? What length shock did you go with? Love the color choice btw...

They are bilstein part number 33-230405 ... that’s for 1.5 coil cut and using shock tower deletes. Also had to drill the sleeve out just a bit to clearance for the bolt.

Thanks! I cut one coil out on mine, and just got some shock tower deletes. I ordered the 33-186504, putting it all together this weekend.

Got the truck loaded up and took it over to my buddy Trey at Dunrite Fab. Got the rear shock mounts welded up and the fuel cell mounted. He knocked it out of the park!

Baby steps...but progress is progress. Got the headlights put in and hooked up, that way I can start on the bumper mounts. Loving these all clears..

Also, I made a revision to my aluminum brackets for the quick latches to work on this truck. I think they turned out pretty good... they are definitely convenient!

Got some time in the shop today, and made a bit of progress. Took the front bumper mounts off and threw them on my late 3rd gen to make sure they are universal (they are), then put them back on here and got them adjusted to where they need to be.

Also, we got the fuel lines ran to the fuel cell. This cheap cell decided to fight us for a while. The cap keeps getting stuck. We “modified “ it so that it will work for the time being, but that will have to be addressed.

We degreased the frame right after the test drive, that way it has plenty of time to dry overnight.

Test drive recap:

The good-
No major issues to speak of. The truck drives surprisingly well, to still be on a completely stock fuel system, as well as stock tuning, but running a 72/87. To be honest, the lag was barely noticeable during normal acceleration. No leaks, trans shifts great, overall a successful test drive

The bad-
We are hitting the front bump stops, so time to delete that. Also, the caltracs are going to have to be shortened. With them “loosened” all the way up, it’s still putting about a full turn of preload on the spring. So Between the two of those, ride quality was kinda trash. Also, where we had run the truck without coolant in the system, we had to fight overheating for a few minutes until we got all of that out, but that’s good to go now. Also the ac needs to be charged, but it works while driving. So that’s cool.

We were very happy with how that went. We are hoping to button up this “phase” of it tomorrow so it can start driving on the streets more and hitting the track.

Got the fuel lines all buttoned up today (still have some zip ties that I need to replace with clamps for a permanent fix, but they do for now, and painted the back half of the frame. Also got the hood/grill swapped out and mounted all up, and pulled the front bump stops. Changed out a sticky caliper, and the oil.

When all of that was said and done we loaded up the first of Gordon’s tunes and took it for a test drive. First impression is it’s much more streetable (not that it was bad before). We couldn’t get the turbo to spool while staging, but we found a pretty good boost leak, so we pulled it back in the shop for the night. Pretty happy with the results so far.

We fixed the damaged boost gauge today, got the bed sat back on, and hooked up everything on the back half of the truck. We also finally washed it for the first time in 2 years. It cleaned up decent but there is some etching in the paint from the mildew so we will probably try to clay bar it to get that out.

We also took it over to my buddy at Dunright Fab and worked on redesigning the bolt on quick latch bumper mount. Have a third truck we will be testing them on in the coming week then I’ll start making a batch of them for the guys that have been asking.
