Global Truck Outfitters Event Report

‘BLACK BETTY’ TAKES GLOBAL TRUCK OUTFITTERS POINT LEAD WITH HUGE GARRETT COUNTY VICTORY

Ken Zimmerman from Mineral Point, Pennsylvania took the first step toward the eventual championship in the ‘Global Truck Outfitters’ Series with a resounding win at the Western Maryland Championships held Saturday, July 10th at the Garrett County Fairgrounds in Deep Creek. Zimmerman pushed his “Black Betty” 2007 Dodge to first place in a stellar field of twenty-seven of the top 2.6 diesel pullers along the Mason-Dixon line. The mark of 298.08 just missed the full pull line at this USA-EAST Sanctioned pulling event.

Charlie Reckart from Adah, Pennsylvania was the runner-up with his 1994 Dodge that is aptly named, “Ain’t Cheatin’ Yet”. Third place went to ‘Wild Bill’ Marstiller and his Duramax-powered 2004 Chevrolet from Morgantown, West Virginia. Marstiller has been instrumental in encouraging diesel truck pulling the the West Virginia panhandle for many years. Fourth was James Varner who made the trek from Blairs Mills, Pennsylvania with his 2005 Chevrolet while the 5th place spot was captured by the ’07 Dodge of Kyle Barchey from Rockwood, Pennsylvania.

All trucks that competed at Deep Creek are now in the running for the special point fund money offered by Global Truck Outfitters. The next event in the series will be held at the Allegany County Fair in Cumberland, Maryland on Thursday, July 22nd with the series ‘finals’ at the Bedford County Fair in Bedford, Pennsylvania on Sunday, July 25.

John Shumake from Global Truck Outfitters was present at the pull in Deep Creek to discuss after market equipment with the many diesel truck enthusiasts in attendance. And at the end of the diesel 4x4 class, Shumake took his specially built drag truck down the track in a special exhibition appearance.

Global Truck Outfitters will present special prizes to each of the top five trucks in this special point race. A total of $1,000.00 in the form of gift certificate coupons from Global Truck Outfitters will be available for the top 5 in points at the end of the series. These will set up as: 400-1st, 250-2nd, 175-3rd, 125-4th, 50-5th. These gift certificates can be used for anything in the Global Truck Outfitters store, including labor, Line-X, diesel parts, etc!

Global Truck Outfitters was created in February, 2005 and originated as a Line-X franchise. The company has grown and expanded into many lines centered around the light duty truck market, including suspension systems, diesel performance, general accessories, wheels and tires, truck caps, and much more. The most recent expansion was the creation of a state-of-the-art e-commerce website.

Cumberland Order

YES. order for Thursday at Cumberland, Maryland

1. Semi Trucks (open)
2. Tractors
3. Mod Gas Trucks
4. 2.6 Diesels

unfortunately for the class order, this event is sanctioned by the Interstate Truck and Tractor Pullers. all of the sanctioned classes must go ahead of the non-sanctioned classes. thus the diesels must run 4th.

i can tell you that the Bedford Pull on Sunday is also sanctioned by Interstate but is listed as a 'two-session' event, so that the 2.6 diesels will run in the afternoon session

more information will be posted tomorrow on the FPP web page.

Rick:
Thanks for letting me pull EXP last night at Cumberland. I have the endless expense truck.
Would it be possible for me to get another test hook at bedford?

Thanks Matt
